Cabinet Staining & Finishing

Finish your new cabinets or upgrade your current cabinets

Cabinet staining & finishing

When looking to redo your kitchen cabinets, you may consider staining instead of painting.

A well done stain job will accentuate your cabinets for years to come and never look outdated.

Just like our opaque coatings; our stains are sprayed instead of rubbed on which provides a quality finish by atomizing it avoiding texture issues.

We create a factory-like finish by properly washing, sanding, degreasing, sealing off the spray area and ensuring as much as possible, no contaminant encounters the finish.

This is an important distinction, because the KCMA certified finishes and application techniques we use means the difference between a new looking finish,………. and a “DIY” result that shows brush marks, or fades, flakes and chips over time.

Our products are made to withstand normal kitchen use and stand up to to heat, humidity and grease which are frequent occurrences in a kitchen.

We also have a stain-matching department, so if you need to match your cabinets to something else in your home or office…..we can help with that!

We’ll just need a small sample of what we are matching.

We can do unfinished cabinets; or refinishing existing; depending on your needs.

The process

  • MASKING – We mask everything off in order to prevent over-spray.
  • DE-GREASING – Grease prevents paint and/or new coatings from sticking. So we thoroughly clean everything off.
  • SANDING –
We sand not once, but twice in order to provide excellent adhesion for the substrate.
  • PRIMING –
We condition the wood for even toning and stain color (no splotchiness)
  • FINISH COAT –
We apply two or more coats of our product (professional grade 2K system, or stain) to the surface.
  • FINAL COAT – If doing a stain; we then apply another layer of protection; the clear coat.
  • INSTALLATION –
We install all of the doors and hardware back onto the cabinets.

Before and after our refinishing process

Before
After

Refinishing your cabinets is the best option if you’re looking to update the style and improve the value of your home while saving off the cost of all new cabinetry.

The potential savings of refinishing your cabinets can be anywhere from 30 to 75% over the cost of replacing with new. Most cabinets do not need to be replaced……they simply need refinishing, due to outdated color or style.

But even better, with our professional process and the durable coatings, the finished result looks like it came right from the factory!

the kcma standard

If you look at your cabinets, you’re likely to see this KCMA label on the inside of one of the doors.

KCMA stands for Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturing Association.

For more than 45 years, the kitchen and bath industry have turned to KCMA to validate the quality and durability of their cabinets.

Here at Lewis Cabinet Co., we adhere to the same standards by using products that have been rigorously tested to perform at the highest levels of testing.
