Cabinet Refacing

What is Cabinet refacing?

When we use the term “Refacing”, it means we are replacing JUST the doors and drawer fronts in the kitchen. So your existing cabinet boxes (the large installed sections where you put things in) remain in place and are re-used.

Refacing is a great middle ground between refinishing (new coating) and total cabinet replacement since it typically costs more than refinishing, but less then replacement!

It’s the best of both worlds; in both cost and “wow” factor.

Since most of what you see in a kitchen is just doors & drawer fronts (about 90% of the surface area), refacing is really like getting a whole new kitchen, without the high price tag of replacement!

It’s also more eco-friendly and sustainable.
Why throw out all your cabinets boxes if they are functional but just need a design update?

You also get lots of optionality with us.   You can choose from many of the latest cabinet styles (seen below on this  page), or opt for custom doors if you have something specific you’d like to match.

NOTE:
It typically does not make sense to re-stain red oak, or pine cabinet doors since these are open grain woods and we cannot warranty the finish like we normally would. Due to their porous nature, it is also typically cost prohibitive because it takes much more labor.
 M
aple cabinets, or thermofoil cabinet doors are perfect for refinishing and refacing though.

If you like the current layout of your kitchen and want to save time and money, cabinet refacing offers the perfect solution without the hassles of remodeling.

Between re-facing, and refinishing; there are many options to give your kitchen a functional and stylish upgrade……even if you want a whole new design including, doors, hardware and color

Cabinet refacing design options

We can make almost any design you’d like, but here are some of the most common ones, including “Shaker” style, which is currently the most popular option.

Benjamin Moore - Color options

We can match our coatings to almost any color but here are the most popular colors, including the designer favorite, “White Dove”.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR REFACING?

The new drawers and drawer fronts you select will be finished (primed and top-coated) in your chosen color or stain at our shop.
Then we’ll spray the cabinet boxes that are already installed on-site in the matching stain, or color.

Finishing on-site (your kitchen, for example) is a labor intensive process, and requires careful and thorough prep.  This ensures a good, smooth finish, and keep the surrounding space free of over-spray.

Here is a picture of the a prepped kitchen after we’ve already sprayed:

Cabinet moulding, trim and millwork

In addition to replacing doors and drawer fronts we can also upgrade your cabinet end panels.
To really make them “pop” you can add moulding all around;  this removes the “builder-grade” look and makes it look more custom.

Check out how much of a difference it makes in the pictures below!
